The Gannets were hitting the water hard earlier this week but maybe one half mile off shore probably chasing small bait fish. I was sitting on my bucket trying to figure out the tides on New Years Eve Day. I had my trusty "2011 Bob's Bait and Tackle tide chart" and it said "Monday, December 31st, 2011". Oh-My-God! No wonder I was working the wrong tide all year. Happy New Years to everyone. I'll be back in a few weeks to actually have a chance to catch some Stripers. Always a fan and patron of Bob's. I caught a mess of immature black drum during the evening low tide off of Southern Shores the past two days. Nothing to write home about (or take home) but it was different for me. Most of them were about the size of a fall spot or maybe a little larger for some of the drum. They will be keepers in a year. Thanks for the update.
