Outer Banks Surf Fishing Report Dec. 30

Surf Fishing on the northern beaches have been on the slow side. Today is the first day we have heard of a lot of bird action on the beach. Hopefully fishing will start to improve. Take some cut bait on the surf and have a large spoon or bucktail handy. Good luck to everyone and Happy New Year.

Thank you to everyone who came to our thanksgiving sale and oyster roast, was a great time once again. Surf fishing has been kind of slow with small sharks and a few speckle trout. We did have a 26 inch puppy drum brought into the store today caught off the surf with cut mullet. In the sound we have been getting a few specks and small black drum especially in kitty hawk bay. Around the bridges we have had a hand full of rock caught. Offshore fishing has been good with lots of yellowfin and king mackerel. All inventory on sale at cost prices until christmas

Surf Fishing in Duck today has improved with fair catches of speckle trout. Few puppy drum mixed in with lots of small sharks if using cut mullet for bait. Rock fishing in the sounds have been poor. There has been some rock caught at the Currituck bridge. Rock fish has also been caught at oregon inlet cat walk.

Surf Fishing has been great with good numbers of speckle trout on cut mullet, small jigs, and mirrolures. Plenty of black drum and small blues. We are starting to catch a few puppy drum but not in big numbers, anytime now.

Surf Fishing In Duck yesterday was great. Plenty of black drum, croakers, flounder, and nice size speckle trout. Water temp is 60 degrees. Fishbites and fresh mullet have been the bait of choice.

Surf Fishing has been good with lots of spot, croakers, black drum, and blues still. Water temp is 66 degrees with a sw wind at 15-20. Plenty of small speckle trout with a few keepers also being caught. Our half day and full day charters have been doing well this week. Surf Fishing in Duck has been excellent. Lots And Lots of speckle trout and citation size sea mullet. Plenty of blues and black drum. Still waiting on the big drum run. Most folks are using bloodworms and our fresh mullet. For the trout using gulp baits or mirrolures. Our half day charters getting plenty of blues drum and flounder.

Surf Fishing has been good with lots of black drum, spot, croaker, and sea mullet using bloodworms or fish bites. We have been getting some speckle trout on lead heads with gulp baits. A few puppy drum being caught on fresh mullet. We did weigh in a 5lb. 7oz trout and 4 sea mullet just over two pounds. Our Inshore charters have been getting plenty of big flounder, blues, spanish, and albacore. Offshore still good tuna fishing.

Surf Fishing has been great with lots of bottom fish, few puppy drum, and small blues. My daughter sage and I caught these trout in duck the other day. Offshore charters have been catching good numbers of tuna and our inshore charters are getting spanish, blues, trout, and flounder.

Surf Fishing in Duck has been very good with lots of spot, big croakers, and large sea mullet. Rob Frazer caught this speckle trout here in duck. We have also been catching blues, and pompano. Our Half Day Charters have been getting lots of spanish mackerel, blues, small kings, and albacore. Our full day charters are getting plenty of tuna and some dolphin.

Surf Fishing in Duck has been good with lots of flounder, trout, and blues using small artificials and fresh bait. We have also been getting pompano, spot, croakers, and big sea mullet. Our Full Day Charters are catching tuna, dolphin, white and blue marlin. Our Half Day Charters are getting good numbers of spanish, blues, and we had plenty of cobia caught on Thursday.

Surf Fishing has been tough this past week because of the rough surf. Today folks will be able to fish again. Should see some good size spot and puppy drum being caught. Use bloodworms for the bottom fish, and cut mullet for the drum. Half Day Charters have been doing good with bottom fish, flounder, and blues.
